When life teaches you humbleness

It seems to be in our very human DNA that we constantly thrive for more and for something better. All of human history is made up of evolution, the advancement of human society and the constant thrive for more.

Who is ever happy with what they have? Who has not always another project or retreat on the go, as soon as they finished the last one?

A huge part of the spiritual awakening process is to wake up to our infinite self. We wake up and realise, that we are truly one with everything and connected to all. That in fact we are pure consciousness itself, exploring itself in separation. That we are limitless creators, created in the likeness of God. That absolutely nothing is out of reach.

And yet we are bound to this 3D world in a physical body. No matter how much I want to be in New Zealand right now for example and have a good old chat with my friend over coffee, there is no way I can get there within the next 5 minutes from where I am here in Europe. I’m bound to limits.

So here I am, this infinite soul, this limitless creator, finding myself in a 3D world and in this physical body of mine that is indeed bound to limits. If I get hit by a car at 80 miles per hour, chances are I will not survive. Two very extreme polarities that desire to be combined.

I’ve been exploring these polarities of limitlessness and limits in all forms a lot lately. And also the polarities between taking action and knowing when it is time to rest still. You can visualize winning the lottery all you want, but if you never go out and actually buy a lottery ticket, you will definitely never win.

And during this journey of exploring my infinite self within a very limited human existence, what I found most is humbleness. It’s truly humbling to be an infinite creator, walking this earth, bound to time, physics, gravity, etc. What an experience to be had!

And with that humbleness also quickly came gratitude. Maybe for the first time ever in my life I found true gratitude in my heart for all the things that I actually do have and all the things I have accomplished thus far. Gratitude for all my earthly possessions, gratitude for all my relations, gratitude for all my mental, emotional and physical capacities. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Nothing in life is guaranteed. Yes, we all are limitless spirits and souls, but in human form, we are not. Our human form is actually very vulnerable indeed. It needs air, water, nourishing foods, enough rest, good friends and family, it needs safety, love, warmth, good health and money to survive and even if all those things are a provided in our lives, we will all still die one day in this human form. It will not last forever. We will not last forever. How truly humbling is that?

The limitless creator from above who meets humbleness and can’t help but bow to an even greater force than himself: life.
